Course Description

本課程的目的：將學生的中文聽說讀寫能力從TOCFL 高階級(Band B2)晉級到流利級(Band C1)，並且能靈活轉換從淺白到文白夾雜，進而到文言文濃度極高的書面語等各種語體，以期翻譯專業達到信、達、雅的理想境地。 訓練方法：通過中文學術篇章的閱讀與理解，協助學生從中建立中文學術語體的詞彙、句法、語義等語言形式特徵，進而以評析定式作為課上口頭表達與課下寫作操練的工具，以期聽、說、讀、寫能力同步晉級。語言能力從TOCFL高階級(Band B2)，如下述的三項指標：1.能清楚、仔細地描述感興趣的話題、經驗或事件。2.對於一般性議題或有爭議的內容，能提出個人見解、並有組織地詳細說明理由。3.能發展清晰的論點，舉出相關的例子延伸並支持自己的論點。 順利晉級到TOCFL流利級(Band C1)，其語言能力描述如下：在正式場合中，針對複雜、抽象、不熟悉的話題：1.能清晰、仔細地描述細節，整合次要主題並做出適當的結論。2.能流利、自如、適當且具說服力地回應相反論證的內容。3.能使用其他說明、理由及相關例子，延伸並支持自己的論點。

Course Description
The purpose of this course: strengthen students’ Chinese language skills (including listening, speaking, reading and writing) from the level of TOCFL Band B2 to Band C1. Also, students will learn to transfer between different language styles from modern vernacular Chinese to Classical Chinese. By doing so, students can expect to better their translation skills and to meet the requirement of accuracy, elegance and fluency.
Training method: Students will read Chinese academic essays and capture some of the characteristics of academic language style in Chinese (such as vocabulary, syntax and word meaning)。Next, the course provides drills with formulaic speech practice, including oral presentation in class and writing practice afterward. By doing so, it is expected that students can sharpen the four language skills at the same time. TOCFL B2 has three objectives: 1. Being able to clearly describe a topic, experience or an event in detail. 2. Provide one’s own opinion toward common issues with organized explanation. 3. Being able to come up with clear arguments and provide examples to support the arguments. To reach C1, the goal descriptions are as follow: 1. Describe details clearly. Combine secondary topics and give proper conclusion. 2. Respond to counter-arguments fluently and persuasively in proper manner. 3. Use examples, explanations and reasoning to develop and support one’s own arguments.
